Color theory has a lot of different subtleties about it. While a color might invoke a certain type of emotion when it’s on a color palette or in a painting, on a wall it can carry a dramatically different type of pathos. While there are some universals with regard to color, they all change when they’re on or in a piece of real estate. Especially when you want to sell or rent out a home, you need to be concerned about what attracts the eye.
While a yellow door is a very bold statement, some professionals swear that it’s a very powerful color when trying to attract a tenant or a buyer. The entire notion that a door could be a bright color and make a difference in someone’s buying decision might sound ridiculous, but remember how strangely human beings tend to act. People will frequently decide on a course of action that could change their lives for years based on nothing more than a fleeting whim. While this isn’t the ideal method of decision making, you can use this tendency to your advantage.
When you have a house with a normal and conformist color scheme, having a dramatically different-colored door draws the eye like a magnet. People almost can’t help but look at something they probably don’t see every day. For most people, doors are white, black and gray. A lot of people feel downright rebellious if they color their doors red. But when it comes down to brass tacks, a lot of times the decision to enter the door in the first place is because it’s a great color.
